In search for the laughter sensation

The waves of laughter that are emanating from television channels seem to be slowly spilling across to the region. Following the huge success of popular laughter challenges and such reality shows on television, a similar endeavour has been undertaken in the Northeast. Robust Network in collaboration with BSNL would for the first time hold an Open Stand-up Comedy contest ‘BSNL Naga Laughter Sensation’. This will be the Ultimate Reality Show conducted to encourage, motivate, showcase and create a platform for talented people of the Northeast. The event has been initiated with the objective of making laughter a common thread to bring the people of the region together.

The reality show would see local and maybe national celebrities as judges. Negotiation is on with a few local television channels to broadcast the show live. Voting for the contestants would be done through SMS, to make voting easier and convenient from any part of India. The main dialect for the competition would be Nagamese, Assamese, Hindi and English. There would be an audition-cum-road show in five major districts followed by a series of rounds where winners will progress to the next round. The contestant with the least votes would be eliminated through a poll of SMS voting, and the show will finally wind up with a Grand Finale where the winners will be declared.

The winner of ‘BSNL Naga Laughter Sensation’ would win a grand total of Rs. One lakh and the runners up with a cash prize of Rs 50,000. A sum of Rs. 10,000 will be awarded for the winners of the third, fourth and fifth places.
